This teddy blog was done with last year's class who still retain an interest. So before the SETT conference I pulled out the camera and asked them what if anything, they learned from what we did. I have edited nothing. There was no script. They decided the order, and said what they did completely 'off the cuff'. Give the children the tools and they will produce the goods!!!!

Me and Spencer went to SETT with Mrs Moffat and Mrs Macdonald. We have told lots of people about our blog. This is a picture of us with Mr Muir, Ike's dad. We have met lots of lovely people and had loads of photos taken. Just off to explore the exhibition.

Dear Mrs M,

Sorry it's taken so long to email you back but I've been very active over the holidays and have not been on the computer.
Over the holidays I went to athletics, soccer camp and went swimming a lot.
I also went camping in Fort William and climbed the highest mountain in Britain (Ben Nevis). I couldn't believe that there was snow at the very top, in the middle of summer. My sister and I had a snowball fight, I hit dad right on the nose with one. We had to walk for 8 and a half hours to get up and down, I think Campbell Bear would have had sore legs if he had been with us and made it to the top!

I had a birthday party with some freinds and we went to the pictures to see Garfield 2, It was a cool film.

Reading the blog Campbell has been very busy over the holidays, when he was with me at the start of the summer holidays we spent a lot of time riding my new bike and doing cool stunts at Lochgilpheads Fire Tower Trail it was insane.

Hope you enjoyed your holidays too.

Spencer got to visit with Mrs Moffat for 2 nights when Mrs Macdonald went to do some work about the blog. He met 2 new friends who were presents to Mrs Moffat from Maryann and Christy.
Spencer and Campbell will get to go to Glasgow to a big meeting for teacher's called SETT in September to tell them about their adventures.

Hi Mrs Moffat,
Sorry for the delay, Our computer hasn't been on for a couple of days, been too busy globe trotting!
Campbell has been very busy during his stay with me. We went camping one night at "Point Sands" near Taylinloan, he had his tea with us in Tarbert and we finished off the day with a lovely big ice-cream. He's also been to Carradale for a picnic in the park and met some horses, Campbell wasn't too sure of them, they were a bit big! With all this good weather he hasn't been feeling like eating, but has been drinking plenty! Campbell has been sent on his way to Campbell O'May today. I'm off to Fort William for my camping holiday. Hope you are enjoying your hols and I'll see you in a couple of weeks!

Hi Mrs Moffat,

I would be sending a photo of Morgan, but my Mum and I can't seem to get the camera up and running at the moment, I will send one later for you, she's a wee bit grumpy just now and I was wanting to pick her up but my Mum says this will spoil her, she's normally quite good though, and hasn't kept me awake at all because I'm at the other end of the house (peace for me anyway).

Last time I knew about Campbell bear, he was at Taylor's house, I have no idea who he gave him to. If I hear anything about him, I'll keep you posted.

I was camping in Ghia last Saturday night, there had been a raft race on during the day, and later on that night, there was a ceilidh on, it was great fun. I was on one of the rafts, I drifted away out to sea but the winners of the raft race were with me, so I was ok. I was also snorkelling, I saw flat fish and shrimps but they were swimming too fast for me so I couldn't catch them for our dinner, just as well there was a bbq on or we would have starved!

In 3 days time I`m going to fly to Glasgow on my own to meet my Dad and my other wee sister Sophie and my step mum, Sharon, then Dad said it's a surprise where I'm going after that, but I'll end back up in Inverness toward the end of the summer hols. I've been a great time so far, out playing lots and today I'm going to Joseph's party, he is 8 today.

I hope that you are having a good summer break and not working too hard.

If I hear about Campbell bear, I'll let you know and later I'll try and send you a wee photo of Morgan.

A holiday message from Andrew

Hi Mrs Moffat its Andrew here I had a good time at Seton Sands I had fun
playing at ten pin bowling. We went on the open top bus round Edinburgh. It
was a double decker and we sat up the top!Dynamic Earth was good fun, there
is a real iceberg and it was huge and freezing to touch.Dad took me to the
driving range and we hit 50 golf balls because I got a new golf club for
part of my birthday.I was at my first golf competition yesterday, it was a
putting competition and I was the youngest there but I won it and was very
happy. Mum says Dad will have to move his trophys for golf because I might
get some!Campbell bear has been playing football and basketball with me
outside and he had good fun. He is sleeping just now because he is hot with
all his fur. I think he is enjoying the holidays. I am! I hope you are too.

This is the article that Owen and Samuel wrote for CalMag- the magazine for employees of CalMac. We are looking forward to seeing the article in print. Well done boys- a great bit of journalism!

Tighnabruaich P123 class teddy Spencer, has been to Campbeltown. He went to Castlehill Primary 3. He went with our teacher Mrs Macdonald, on the Portavadie Ferry to Tarbert and got to drive it. Mrs Macdonald took Campbell the Castlehill Bear back to us in Tighnabruaich. We took Spencer and Campbell home and took photographs of them. When it was Owen’s birthday he took Campbell to Fun World. They went down the big blue slide that had bumps.
Tighnabruaich Primary 1,2,3 and Castlehill P3’s have got a blog. A blog is an internet diary. The blog gives kids great computer skills. We have learned how to send comments, type things and use a digital camera. We started on the 11th of March. Now more than 1,600 people have looked at it. It will go on for ever and ever.
Campbell went to Millcroft Lavender with Samuel. He bought a bunch of lavender soap and got to meet a lavender bear. Everyone in our class has looked after Campbell.
On Friday the 26th of May we went on a school trip to A’Chleit Beach on Kintyre. We went over on the Tarbert Ferry from Portavadie. We saw a yacht race. We had a sandcastle building competition and a treasure hunt with the Castlehill P3’s. Our teddy bears came too. We had chocolate cake and marshmallow hats and crispies at the picnic.

Everyone had a great time and Campbell and Spencer are now back in their own schools after having a wonderful visit. To find out more look at www.talkingteds.blogspot.com

We had a surprise trip(for your class at least) on Wednesday because of your good work and wonderful homework projects that most of you brought in about places that had hit on the blog,and you had been such superstars, Miss Littleson decided you were due an extra treat, and I agreed, so on Wednesday, we had a lovely time in Southend. We had ice cream and chocolate cake at Muneroy tearoom. We went to Columba's footprint, Keil caves, saw and talked about Dunaverty Rock and the event that happened there. Wow! You remembered from our Knights and Castles project! The best bit happened when Jamie asked me at every stop.'Are you still enjoying yourself Mrs Moffat?' and I could answer truthfully. 'Yes' You all behaved very well and that makes it really good for your teacher. There have been over a thousand pictures taken. Video and sound from our directors and camerapeople was piling up before the holidays, since it wouldn't work in school, so I'll try to get it here so you can see it. I am looking forward to hearing what you are doing on your holidays and where Campbell bear is going. I am really pleased that you liked your certificates. Well done and keep it up!

Today's lesson was about using the spellcheck in Appleworks for the 2nd time, and copying and pasting the stories to the blog. Keiran had his story ready for copying and printing for display and his writing folder. Both blogger and our printer were playing up in school today so I promised him that I'd publish for him tonight, which will explain the time on the posting.

Me and my bear Broxy went to A'Chleit and we went on the bus. And we went with Tighnabruaich School Primary 1'2'3 and we all took our teddy to the picnic. We had a sand castle competition and a treasure hunt and I was with my friend Chrisopher and Scott. I brought some cake and we had a good picnic. I ha d a good time. My Broxy bear is a really big bear. He is at my chest and my little Broxy is up to his legs and my even smaller bear is up to his paws. The bus came back to pick us up and we all come back on the bus and we all sang the wheels on the bus. We all had a good time there. We were glad to come home but I didn't really want to come home and the teddies were happy to come home because they were tired. When I got home all my Broxy's played the psp and we played number's up and fefa street football.

I loved the teddy bears picnic. First we went on the bus and finally we got to A’chleit beach. Then we went for a walk on the beach. While we were walking a bus stopped.It was the children from Tighabruich.and Campbell bear was there too. Later we went for a treasure hunt and we came back for a snack. After that we had a drawing competition but we dont know who won. Next we got our buckets and spades and we had a sand castle competition. When we came back we had teddy cakes then we packed up and went home. I know I loved the teddy bears picnic. I think my teddy enjoyed it too. Aimee

Teddy Bears Picnic

We got there by bus. When we got there we had to go in the church because it was raining. At break I had a packet of animals and my bear’s name is Blue. I had a sandwich for my lunch. I had tomato cheese and gammon on it and then we had a treasure hunt and we did the sandcastle competition. The teddy bears sat on a blanket. Campbell was glad to be back and to meet Spencer. The weather was raining. Castlehill and the Tighnabruaich school children came too. it was fun, and I think the teddy bears enjoyed it too. Hopefully we can go back when it is nice.

Teddy Bears Picnic
What I did/I played a game of hat & ball it was a good game to play. We also had a treasure hunt we found everything but one thing. We had some cakes,jelly bears & chocolate crispy. I worked with Scott. For my lunch I got a roll with cheese in it. We had a sandcastle competition there were lots of good sandcastles’ but I don’t now who won. The weather was bad although it still was fun because we went in to the village hall but we still got outside to play. We saw some hens,ducks & a cockeral. It looked nice. We also saw some little chicks. I enjoyed making a sandcastle. It was great fun be there and playing with everyone. Later on we went back to school and waited on the bell ring & went home to get ready to go to another party.

Teddy Bears picnic Christy

When the teddies went on their picnic they had a great
time. They loved the food it was yummy yummy in their
tummy. We had the picnic at A'Chleit. It was not a nice
day it was raining and pouring.We went down on the
beach and we played some games my favourite game was
the sand castle competition. It is a great competition.
We met up with the Tighuabruch children in
p 1,2 and 3 and Kyle and I met a boy named Kieran.
When it was raining and pouring we went into
the Church hall and when it was not raining and
pouring we went on to the beach to play.
What we had at the picnic was cake, juice, crispy cakes
and teddy biscuits. Granny brought some singing
teddys.They sing the teddy bears picnic. In the hall
we played hats and bowls.We also had a treasure hunt

I think they would like to go another time cause I
would like to go another time.

The teddy bears went to the picnic. I hope
they had a good time. My teddy's name is Sophie. The class and me were with the Tighnabruaich children primary 1’2’3 and Castlehill school primary 3. We left at 9:15 am to 3:00 pm but it was pouring and we went to A’ chleit beach and we went into the hall to have lunch.We could have gummybears, cake, bear biscuits marshmallow hats. Thats what items we had . We had sand castle competition
but we dont know who won it because Mrs Moffat has not told us yet.
But we had a good time to and we had a treasure hunt but Sarah fell in a rockpool. I did not. It rained but it got sunny,when we left. We got to the beach in the bus . I was happy because it was sunny and we had an excellent time . And we went back to school.

On Friday we went to
A chleit beach for a picnic. And we went outside for a sandcastle competition. Later we went inside to have lunch and we went with Tighnabruaich school. We had cake gummy bears and bear biscuits and later it rained. So we put a mat on the ground and we put the teddy's round it. We gave them a snack. It was fun at the beach.

I got to go to a shinty match. It was Kyles Athletic against Tayforth. Mr Macdonald is the Kyles goalkeeper and Mrs Macdonald's son Roddy scored one of the teams 9 goals. I was supporting Kyles. Our school jumpers are the right colour for our team Spencer so I was a sub!

I'm envious of Spencer and Campbell - they get to so many interesting places! I was left behind in Dunoon to look after the house while Chris and John went off to Millport to sing with some other people. They came home on Wednesday. I ate the rest of the chocolates in the box so they had none left by the time they came home!
Maybe I'll get out again some time soon ... :-(

Ross emailed me Spencer's diary for the next few days. Well done Ross!! Terrific view!
Me, Spencer, Mum and Dad went up Bengullion and got some tadpoles. We walked round Crosshill Loch on the forest walk which took us out at Kilkerran Road so after that we went to play at the paddling pool. Spencer had fun on the slide at the park. We took the tadpoles home and put them in a bigger jar. Spencer said he really enjoyed his walk up the hill and had a good day.

Spencer's holiday diary.

I had several volunteers to email Spencer's holiday activities. This is Kyle's contribution.

Spencer had a great weekend with me. He came out on the wood lorry with me. We had to get up at 7.30am on a Saturday morning!!! Spencer and I finished work at 1.30pm.
On Sunday Spencer went out on the boat with Ross and me, we went swimming to the hotel in Arran. Spencer didn't get too wet. Coming back, we got caught in a hail stones shower and we were freezing, but Spencer was ok because he was in a bag.
On Monday, Spencer and I had a long lie because it was his last morning with me, we never got up until 9.30am. Here are some photos of Spencer driving the lorry and driving the boat, isn't he clever?

I made a Spencer and Campbell mobile. I made it out of Reoclix and an old tray. I stuck it together with Sellotape. What and how did I make it. Well, i made the Reoclix in to Wheels.

So Samantha and Spencer can go on a pick nick now.

We made a cart for Spencer out of mini quadro. We worked as a team to get it finished ontime.It is just the the exact size for Spencer and boy we are surprised that is absolutly great . Actually I think it is the best we have ever done. I really think that Spencer liked it and so did we. I wonder if he would like to drive the cart enyway.It is the best thing i have ever made as well so I just think it was great.

Yesterday I made Spencer a toy aeroplane and he can fit his wee paw around the aeroplane handle. It alslo has a propeler to make it fly. I made it with lasy. Sarah W

Campbell's big adventure

I showed p1 2 and 3 my soot case. They liked my soot case and liked the things I brought.
Yesterday me and spencer bote teddy bear sticker's and a note book. We met a rabbit teddy and we chated for haf an hour.
I am having a good time. I love it here. I was watching television at Mrs Moffat's.

Spencer arrived on Friday. He came to find me and brought presents. We went for lunch and had healthy food. We are having a good time together at Mrs Moffat's house and I am going to Tighnabruaich tomorrow. Maybe I'll get to drive the ferry too. We were working on the computer. A busy blogging day today....but sadly I can't publish many of the comments, for several reasons. Some were not signed....some had no content .......some were signed with made up names that we cannot really use with our very young children, though, I suppose they were meant to be funny. Some were done completely in capital letters and we tell the children that in email terms that is like shouting. We have to teach them to communicate with care on the internet, and I imagine that all kindly disposed grown ups will understand why a point of reference is necessary. If your posting was one of these, and you'd like to be in touch again, bearing in mind the above, then the teds and children would love to hear from you, about you, and might reply by comment, email or on your blog.
We are all having so much fun with this, that we really don't want to spoil it.

Don't worry Spencer you will soon have a lovely school jumper and trousers and won't be a bare bear for much longer. I got some wool today when I was shopping in Glasgow. I also saw some brand new bears freshly made at The Bear Factory being carried down Buchanan Street with their heads poking out of their boxes!
